Just a little blog to let me think

Virgin Islands here I come!

I’ve always wanted to move to a tropical locale.  Seems now I have the proof I needed – it’s for my health!

All the reason I need.

See y’all on the beach!

IT’S FOOTBALL TIME IN TENNESSEE

Into beautiful Neyland Stadium!

Into beautiful Neyland Stadium!

Just in case y’all didn’t already know I love some UT Football.
This year is going to be a new start for my mighty Vols.
I am lucky enough have tickets for 6 of the home games and my best friend John David will be sitting next to me to root on our team.
Fall, Friends and Football – it doesn’t get any better!

I can’t wait to hear and see all the sites and sounds that are Tennessee football and I am predicting a winning season this year after a pretty rough go last year.

I’ll be at the season opener tomorrow and am super excited about another season!

My predicition for tomorrow:   TN 38  W.KY 3. GO VOLS!

Have a great Labor Day Weekend, Friends!

MARTIAN BEAUTY

I have found lots of the old videos from Sesame Street when I was growing up.  A lot of my favorites can be found like “Capitol I”, “The Queen of 6″ and “The Lady Bug Picnic” but this one always made me laugh out loud.

Seriously – how hilarious is that? 9 holes on her upturned nose?  That still makes me smile!

What was your favorite S.S. clip?

RELATIONSHIPS ARE ALL WE GOT

Friendship Matters

Friendship Matters

Not sure of the grammar on that one – but as far as I am concerned there isn’t much more truth I could throw out there on a Friday.

For almost a month now I have been trying to make choices in my everyday to be a better “friend” in whatever context that may mean for the relationship.  In these few weeks I really do feel like my relationships with those around me are getting deeper – more meaningful.

Fun things that have happened in the past few weeks:

  1. I’ve been on the phone, sent e-mails to, just been friends with my parents more.
  2. I’ve had lunch with my mentor every week.
  3. I’ve seen my pastors as friends in fun ways.
  4. I ’ve had a serious but fun talk with my kid brother.
  5. My best friend and I have been scheming. (always fun)
  6. I had lunch with a good friend I rarely get to see.
  7. I spent a Saturday on the lake with friends.
  8. I spent a Sunday afternoon in the pool with a lot of friends.
  9. I’ve had people over to my condo twice. (Huge stuff for me)
  10. I’ve seen my boss (I also consider him a friend) play in his band.
  11. Old friendships have grown deeper and renewed their freshness.
  12. New friendships have been developed and nurtured.
  13. I’ve been laughing and praying for others a lot more.
  14. I’m growing more comfortable in my own skin. (Finally!)
  15. Tonight, I am heading about an hour South of K-Vegas to have dinner with my buddy Kyle (the handsome fellow up top) and his wife, who I’ve not seen in about 2 years, as they are visiting from Van-Freaking-Couver, BC.

Relationships matter and when it is all said and done, they are all we have to live for.

I hope you have a weekend filled with laughter, prayer and friends.

See you Monday.

WE FRY EVERYTHING BUT THE CLUCK.

So apparently, KFC is developing a new contender in the world of crazy fast food items – the Double Down sandwich which contains no bread – at all:

THE KFC DOUBLE DOWN

THE KFC DOUBLE DOWN

According to Rave:  The new sandwich features two chicken fillets, a pile of pepper jack and Swiss cheese, bacon, and a new “tangy” special sauce from the Colonel himself. One newspaper judges the whole mess to be about 1200 calories.

Sounds pretty bad if you ask me. I’ve been working to lose weight since January of this year.  One of the first things I did was eliminate a lot of the convenience food I was gobbling down for dinner and lunch.  The stuff kills folks.

I am not saying that I am don’t have a desire to try this beast.  I just don’t want the quadruple bypass that comes afterwards.  Safe to say I will be keeping my distance from the KFC Double Down.

So what say you? Yuck or Yummmm?

Lunch is served

Check out these fun creations from www.funkylunch.com.

I love the idea of taking regular food and turning it into art.

I think that is pretty cool and pretty cool looking.  Don’t know how I feel about biting into a sponge sammich but I think the art is great!

Salute to Doobybrain.com, a new blog I am reading, on this one.

Get Real Favre – Honesty is still the best policy

Seeing all the stories today about Brett Favre coming out of “retirement” to join up with the Vikings has got me thinking of a lesson I learned a long time ago while under my Dad’s teaching.

SAY WHAT YOU  MEAN AND MEAN WHAT YOU SAY

Truth of the matter is, I lost respect for Mr. Favre a long time ago.  I also think the professional sports industry is filled to the brim with men and women just like him.  Inauthentic people willing to do whatever it takes to get another dollar on the contract.

Mr. Favre likes to live his life publically so that is why I use him as an example to remind myself how important it is to be honest and upfront.  We are not called to be deceiftful or to hide ourselves.

I hope Mr. Favre gets a grip and returns to the man of integrity I once thought he was.  But even if he doesn’t, I’ve got to remind m

I Swear I did not get Married!

You ever been confused with someone else?

Well over the past year or so I have received this video in one form or another with a question.

WHY DIDN’T I GET INVITED TO YOUR WEDDING?

I promise this ain’t me.  But let’s face it, my brotha has some mad skills.

If I ever get married, I hope I get to have as much fun as these two did.

I needed a reminder …

Sometimes God sends us exactly the reminder we need to pull our head out of our posterior regions and to remember the calling He has placed on our lives.

Watch this video! It is worth the 5 minutes.

Then look inward and determine what your next step is to make the most of today.

We are ALL but vapors dear friend.

Where the Wild Things Are!

And here is one more video for Friday.

This one is a movie adaptation of one of my favorite books when little.  I always love Maurice Sendack’s illustrations and now a movie.  Look at the wild things – they look so cool.

Yes, I suppose this makes me a fanboy geek but I don’t care.

So here is the question for today:
What wild thing is deep down inside just waiting to cause a rumpus?

I can’t wait to see this movie!
